What it is
Teachable is a platform for hosting and selling online courses, coaching and digital downloads. It handles checkout, student access and payments.
Pricing (from teachable.com, October 2026)
- Starter: $39/mo, or $29/mo billed annually, with a 7.5% transaction fee
- Builder: $89/mo ($69/mo annually), 0% transaction fee
- Growth: $189/mo ($139/mo annually), 0% transaction fee
- No free plan. There's a 7-day free trial and a 30-day money-back guarantee. Payment processing fees apply on top (e.g. 2.9% + 30¢ for US cards, per Teachable's help centre).
- Each plan includes 100 free students. Teachable charges $0.50/month per free student above that, according to Podia's comparison page, so check Teachable's own terms.
Who it's for
- Course creators and coaches who want a dedicated course platform rather than an all-in-one tool
Who it's not for
- Very early-stage sellers who don't want a monthly fee. Systeme.io has a free plan with courses (see the comparison).
- Sellers who want courses, downloads and a community in one simpler storefront. Compare Podia, or read Teachable vs Podia for the break-even maths.
- High earners on Starter: the 7.5% fee adds up, so moving to Builder may be cheaper.
Verdict
A focused, well-known course platform. Do the maths on the Starter fee against Builder for your expected sales.
